UX BROUGHT TO LIFE:

AIENAI’s WORKSHOP AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON STAFF LEARNING WEEK.

The University of London is a federation of some of London’s most prestigious universities, including King’s College London, London Business School, University College London, and many others.

On May 16th, AIENAI’s founders, Ini and Fe, were invited to make a presentation at the Institution’s staff Learning Week to shed light on an exciting, often-overlooked area: User Experience (UX) Principles Applied Beyond Digital Spaces.

UX for More Than Just Apps and Websites

In today’s tech-focused world, User Experience (UX) is often associated exclusively with digital products, from intuitive app designs to streamlined website layouts. Yet, Ini and Fe showed the staff of the institution how UX principles can improve nearly every environment we encounter, extending into physical spaces, product design, and even events.

As they pointed out in their insightful presentation, “In every encounter—what we call a touchpoint in UX—there's an opportunity to delight or disappoint.” This idea forms the foundation of their approach to user-centred, accessible, and responsive design—no screen required.

Why UX Matters in Non-Digital Spaces

Applying UX principles outside digital environments enhances accessibility, comfort, and ease of use. Whether through intuitive building layouts, ergonomic products, seamless event experiences, or clear information displays, UX-driven design improves everyday interactions for everyone.

Key Takeaways for Organizations

For businesses and organisations, applying UX principles outside the digital space is a powerful way to enhance customer experience and increase satisfaction. As Ini and Fe explained, UX isn't just for tech giants; it’s for anyone who values creating meaningful, accessible, and delightful interactions.

They also shared engaging use case examples during the presentation. From the Apple Store's minimalistic layout to the navigable designs at the Tate Modern Museum, these real-world examples remind us that good UX makes life easier—regardless of the context.

Final Thoughts

AIENAI’s session at the University of London was an inspiring reminder that UX design principles hold immense potential in non-digital environments. From public spaces to everyday products, the team’s presentation left attendees thinking about how to create intuitive and positive experiences everywhere we interact.

Whether you’re in tech or customer service, exploring these UX insights could be the next step toward fostering a more user-friendly world.
